Discover is the overarching theme connecting the subjects History, Geography, Citizenship and RE. The process is project based offering an active approach to teaching Humanities and RE. It is designed to promote interest and engagement using experiential learning within a context.
Discover offers the opportunity to connect the Big 4 across time and place. It also promotes creativity, critical thinking, reflection, enquiry and research.
The intention within Discover is that it is interactive and therefore resource rich. Teaching sessions aim to promote learning through exploration. The pace of learning is expected to reflect the excitement of discovering new things in our world.
Learning and progress is assessed throughout the modules through teacher observation, quality marking, peer and self-assessment. Assessment includes knowledge, processes and understanding. Evidence can be verbal, written and/or physical. Progress is assessed and recorded on success grids throughout each module.
